Client Spotlight: Free Flow Active Apparel
A behind-the-scenes look at this brand design project for Free Flow Active Apparel.
What we covered:
→ Brand Strategy
→ Brand Design
→ Social Media Templates
→ Product Hang Tags
Emily reached out to us about her new business in the early stages of business building. She was putting together a line of active wear products that customers could wear at the gym, or going for a swim. It's meant to go from land to water without issue and each piece is made with 78% recycled plastic from the oceans.
A brand with a cause? A no-brainer for us!
Let's take a peek at what went into this project:
Step 1 | Brand concepts
Emily did a deep dive into her brand and business strategy before kicking off with us. She summarized her brand mission, story, values, differentiators and her ideal customers. Emily also put together a vision board - a secret board on Pinterest that gave her space to pin a bunch of images, logo, colours, fonts and patterns that resonated with her vision.
We always give our clients the option of putting something visual together. Some clients love this part and find it helpful for sorting through their thoughts about their business, and others would rather leave this part up to us. We're great either way!
After we got ourselves up to speed, we began brainstorming some concepts.
Step 2 | Brand Design
Once we started to bring things to life, we decided on the strongest direction and began to hash out the details. We put our drawings into the computer and finalized a digital version of the logos, submark, patterns, colours...etc.
Step 3 | Refine + Finalize
We worked through a simple round of refining with the font thickness and that was really it. Everything else fell together perfectly! A sign of a great match.
We finalized all the files in all necessary file types and colours so that Emily could apply everything to her new website when she's ready to launch.
Step 4 | Marketing + Packaging
We did some additional social media templates and a hang tag for Free Flow products as part of the brand project. This meant a handful of about 9 different social media graphic templates that Emily could re-use for quotes, product showcases, product reviews...etc., profile photos for each platform, and a 9-grid mockup of her Instagram account to show exactly how to use her new brand on social media. This grid mockup also gives her a plan for her next 9 posts on Instagram.
In addition to the social media marketing support, we also worked with Emily to create a hang tag for each of her products. We designed custom icons to represent each of the benefits of the activewear line, like the fact that each one is made from 78% recycled plastic and water resistant.
We love a brand with a solid story & a good cause!
Working with businesses that are doing socially good things is our absolute favourite. This project was a blast and we can't wait for Emily to launch the lineup in early 2019! For now, you can follow along @free_flow_active.
